About the PG Name

The Meaning of PlatinumGames

PlatinumGames seeks to provide gamers worldwide with games of the highest quality. We aim to surprise and delight our users, exceeding their expectations. It is this drive that dictates how we create our products and also how we chose a company name.
Platinum, renowned for its high quality, is a metal that keeps its luster forever. It was with this property in mind that we named our company PlatinumGames Inc.

Platinum

Platinum is a chemical element with an atomic number of 78 and an atomic symbol of Pt. Platinum is extremely stable, resistant to oxidation, and has a high melting point of 1772℃. While used in a variety of applications, such as standard weights and measures, electrodes, crucibles, and inoculations loops, platinum is most often used as a precious metal for use in jewelry. It is said that where silver and gold simply melt away, platinum holds firm against the flame, retaining its shape. This lastingness is held as one of the many reasons why platinum is crafted into engagement rings. Platinum also resists the effects of acid, and will only dissolve if exposed to the reagent aqua regia. Extremely rare, worldwide production of platinum is 1/33 that of gold.
