We released Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon on March 17th, 2023. Has it already been a whole year?! Between the rush to get the demo and trailers ready leading up to launch, the excitement of seeing the positive reviews, the release of the full Original Soundtrack, and looking through players’ comments and fan art on social media…2023 felt like it flew by in an instant. But, looking at the calendar, it is impossible to deny. Speaking of which, this year is a leap year, meaning a couple weeks ago we all got to experience the bissextile night for ourselves! It wasn’t a full moon unfortunately, but I hope everyone used their magic to its fullest and got up to some mischief.

I actually just returned to the office a couple weeks ago after taking some time off for paternity leave. When I got back, the first job waiting for me was to check out all these wonderful new illustrations the talented artists at PlatinumGames created for the 1st anniversary. It was the best welcome-back surprise I could have hoped for…and now we get to share this art with all of you! Some of the illustrations were done by the original concept artists from the team (you may recognize their names from our development blog or social media posts) and some are brand new takes on the characters by other artists (and even some programmers and game designers!) It is so nice to see a variety of people share their interpretations of these characters.

Here at PlatinumGames we strive to make games that will stand the test of time and still be fun to play and beautiful to see even years after their release. For those of you who enjoyed Cereza and the Lost Demon last year, I hope this artwork rekindles your love for the world and characters of Bayonetta Origins. And for those of you who haven’t had the chance to experience the game for yourself yet, now is as good a time as ever to venture into the fairytale (faerietale?) world of Avalon Forest.

Enjoy!

Hello everyone! I’m the game’s producer, Koji Tanaka.

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon has reached its first anniversary. We’re only able to celebrate this special milestone thanks to those of you who have been playing Cereza and the Lost Demon, as well as all of you who have been supporting the Bayonetta series. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart.

To celebrate this occasion, we have some art from some of the members of the development team! Everybody poured their heart and souls into these, so I hope you’ll enjoy them!
I would be delighted if you would look back on Cereza and Cheshire’s adventures and the sights of Avalon Forest together with the art.

I hope you will continue to enjoy and support Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon along with the Bayonetta Series as a whole.

In the year since release I’ve read a lot of your reactions. Thank you so much. I’d be delighted if it leaves its brilliant mark on you just like those picture books of our childhoods.

We’ve reached the 1 year anniversary! Time really does fly.
I handled the overall design of the plant gimmicks for the game, so I decided to make a wreath with the plants found in Avalon Forest. I put my blood sweat and tears into every one of the designs, so they all mean a lot to me. I’m especially glad you guys enjoyed the way the peas peel!

The one year anniversary! Let’s celebrate!
I really love how many lively expressions Cereza shows us, so I drew a lot of them here.
Which of her expressions do you like the most?
Please keep on supporting Cereza in the future!
